Local residents are advised to be cautious after reports of a woman knocking on doors in the Horbury area asking for money to “get into Wakefield and away from her partner”. Please be aware that this may be a scam.

Remember:

You don’t have to let anyone into your home.

Do not give money to anyone that approaches you on the street/at your home address unexpectedly.

Keep your door locked and use a door chain or viewer before answering.

Report any suspicious callers to the police via 101 (or 999 in an emergency).

Check on vulnerable neighbours that may be more at risk.

Stay alert and help keep our community safe.
